To quote one of the articles below, "lotus are among the trickiest water plants to grow."

I know very little about lotus. I use hardy water lilies in my pond; my water lilies are over 20 years old and they freeze every winter, then return in the spring.

My pond is 800 gallons with a waterfall, fish, and water lilies.

The water isn't deep enough.
Reply:well the reason most plants have stunted foliage growth is due to the fact that they are root bound. meaning that you need to pull your lotus out of the pond and check the root growth it may need to be re potted and fertilized with aquatic plant fertilizer tablets and a suitable potting medium of crushed or ground clay. to cut down on the amount of soil debris.and a pot large enough to contain its roots.
