Was the iron lotus accident real?
I don't thnk so. It could have happened though.
Reply:huh?
Reply:Blades of Glory with its Iron Lotus is a parody of that early 90s movie The Cutting Edge in which a mismatched skating couple ultimately bonds and pulls off an impossible maneuver, the Pamchenko.

The Iron Lotus itself consists of a headbang lift (so called because the woman's head often comes dangerously close to the ice), a backflip by the person thrown, and a butterfly by the thrower. Only the butterfly is allowed in real competition.

While any one of these maneuvers can be performed, the combination is physically impossible--generating the combination of forces required for all the elements to be performed in sequence is just beyond human ability, even if it is 2 men.
Reply:Fake

Reply:I think it is fake.
Reply:I came across an article saying that the move consisted of illegal moves that can be used in competitions.
