What does the lotus flower symbolise, if anything?

In Hinduism and Buddhism it has become a symbol for awakening to the spiritual reality of life. Tattoo enthusiasts think it represents the whole of life because it grows from the mud to the light/surface. Hope this helped!

What does the lotus flower symbolise, if anything?
It depends on how different cultures perceive the lotus as their symbols. In ancient egypt for example, lotus is associated with death and afterlife.



In buddhism, it represent wisdom and purity and the faith itself since the flower rises cleanly from the mud which it grows on.



In Hinduism, it represent creation and symbols of some of the hindu gods...



And the list goes on....
