Caged bird and lotus buds?

what is their significance to thailand?

Caged bird and lotus buds?
The lotus is a symbol in both Hinduism and Buddhism, both of which are prominent in Thailand. It is a symbol of beauty and perfection, purity, and also of spontanious generation and divine birth.

Caged birds are an influence from China which is throughout southeast Asia. They are kept for the beauty of song but they are also released because letting a caged bird free is supposed to bring good luck. Many are sold at or near temples and released for spiritural purposes, many other animals are also caged then released for this too.
