Is this car livable for a daily commute? Or is the ride to harsh?

No. It has a very harsh ride. and no trunk space. Only 2 seats.
It is meant for weekend fun. It is reliable.
Reply:If you love driving it would be great.
But that must not be the case because you are worried about ride comfort.
So for me it would be great.
But for you, look for something else, like a PT Cruiser.
