I'm looking at the specs and feel like I'm missing some crucual piece of information. The engine is only 1.8 L and 189 horsepower, which is not bad but not amazing, yet it can do 0-60 in 4.9 s, which is pretty damn good. What am I missing?
What akes a Lotus Elise engine so powerful?
It's not the engine but the car is so light it moves faster. That exact motor used to be in Toyota Celica's and they did not accelerate as fast. Mow Lotus uses a supercharged version of the same Toyota motor so it's faster.
Reply:You're missing that this car weights under 2000 pounds. Put the same engine on a bike and you'll do 0-60 in little more then 2s ;-)
