I live in a desert region. I would like to grow american Lotus (Nelumbo lutea)...
Can anyone give tips on growing lotus flowers?

Reply:From seed. Nic the loctus seed and put in a jar filled mostly with dirt and a little water. It should sprout in a few weeks. You can leave it in a jar or pot that the soil is more like a bog, very moist.
Up here where I live, Zone five, People will plant them in bogs or mini ponds in the summer and move the pot in the winter to a warmer temperature. I store mine in the patio area.
Just make sure whether you start it from seed or buy a plant that you let it have moist soil. Denise
