I used to have Lotus Smart Suite (9 I think it was, or milennium) and I don't anymore since it wouldn't install properly on my new computer (running Windows XP). I had many files in Lotus which are .LWP files that will not read in Microsoft Word. I don't have access to Lotus any more since it wouldn't install on this computer but I want to recover my files. Is there a reader or a converter I can use to convert these files into an RTF or DOC format so I can read them on Word or Word Perfect?
Just for the record- when I try to open these files with Word (2003) I get a list of formats to try. So far all of them give me a bunch of "wing-dings" or symbols but no readable text.
How can I convert LWP files to a readable format without Lotus?
Word has never been able to open native-format WordPro (.lwp) files. You can download and install the Lotus KeyView program by visiting ftp://ftp.lotus.com/pub/lotusweb/product... and clicking on KVLOTUS.EXE. Lotus KeyView is a free viewer that will let you open Lotus SmartSuite files (WordPro, 1-2-3, and Freelance Graphics) and then copy and paste to Word or other applications.
