Planting Lotus Tubers Spring and Fall

Please handle your Lotus tuber carefully, as they are fragile and can be easily damaged. The first thing we do is turn over the pot of Lotus over after the Lotus has gone dormant.

Do not do this if there are leaves present as it can mean death to the plant and tubers.

Reply:Hi:

Lotus is an aquatic plant and loves a wet and moist surrounding. With you just transplanting the plant, it could be in some form of shock. This is not uncommon when you transplant a container plant or move a plant in the ground to another area.

Lotus prefer sandy soil. Keep the soil moist and have the plant in some sandy soil. Lotus is considered a marginal plant so the roots are shallow.

If you don't have the Lotus plant in some sandy soil, try the sand base soil an see if this helps.

I hope this has helped some and good luck to you. In the landscape articles of my website I have an article on floating and marginal plants. See if you can get any information that may help you. I will link you to this section as well as the site map. The site map has everything that is on the website and there may be some more information that could be useful to you. Have great day and if you need any other help with your Lotus plant, please feel free to contact me at the website.

Reply:Is it an aquatic lotus? If it is, it needs to be in water. If it is the lotus hanging basket plant, with the fine ferny leaves, it is quite a different thing. It likes a cool location and moist soil, but not wet. Are you giving it sufficient water, or too much?
