Im considering buying a lotus elise s1 can anyone tell me any reliability issues i might need to worry about?
Yes they used the Rover K series engine in some of the Elise models be very aware they suffered from head gasget problems this can also lead to the wet cylinder liners sinking .Also check for oil leaks from the cam shaft areas.Mick UK. Used to work on them.
Reply:how about transmission failure, try calling a transmission shop and price out a rebuild job on a lotus. kids are starving in africa and the engines arent cheap either. but i do guarantee you will be doing some work on it all the time. its a garage trophy to be driven in a parade. you want reliability, buy a good toyota tundra. you want to party like its 1999. then get the new lotus and and a new hummer to park next to it.
