Lotus elise maintenance cost?
If you have to ask....

The Elise for those who don't know uses the same engine as the Pontiac Vibe/Toyota Matrix. That means it uses the same oil and the same filter, etc.

Everything else is limited production British cottage industry stuff so no, you won't be readily servicable anywhere.
Reply:Yes, it cost $150-350. You have to remove the bottom panels in order to access the oil filter and plug which is time consuming task. It uses the toyota oil filter but 5w40 synthetic oil, which is not very common.

Some owners change oil at home. You just need ramps and a lot of time.

Lifting the Elise can be tricky. One tire shop dropped Elise because they didn't know how to lift Elise. Again, bottom panel makes it difficult. Most owners use Lotus dealers.
Reply:That's the body the Tesla Electric uses! No oil changes required!

Why should it be different than any other car? Oil changes can run from $15 to $45 depending on where you take it.

Dealers always charge too much. I go to them for parts only. When I have to.
Reply:I read that it was over $250 at most dealerships to get an oil change done for the new lotus elise and that most local shops won't touch it unless you find a good one that isn't afraid too, but then still you would probably pay at least half that. As far as other maintainence goes, join a Lotus Elise forum and ask around, im sure they will tell you good estimates and i bet most of them pay a lot!
